The Colosseum of Rome accommodated spectacular plays of animals, summary gladiators and executions. Colosseum could accommodate in its time 55.000 spectators. Its construction was completed in 82 AD.

Many of those which went there were disappointed. Not that Colosseum is not a wonder, but the image that they have of the arena is much more impressive. The arena is partly destroyed what makes him lose a certain part of its charm. It does not remain about it less than it is worth the turning, but too you do not expect any are likely to be disappointed.

One of the most imposing monuments of the city, the monument dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II was built with the glory of first King d’ Italie, following his conquests to unify Italy. Its construction was completed in 1911 and is a strong symbol of the new built italian unity.

Take the trouble to assemble all in top of the monument. It will offer a sight on the city to you which you will not fail to forget. It can be also a good starting point if you think of continuing your visit towards the Romain forum.

The monument is very criticized by the Romans. In addition to its historical reason, which was to impose the authority of Rome on all Italy, much do not find it quite simply too colossal and little matched with the historical center.
