Milan Cathedral in Milan Italy
Milan Cathedral is the home of the Archbishop of Milan. The Cathedral in Milan was started in 1386 and new renovations just finished in 1965. The Cathedral is massive in size covering up 157 meters in length, 92 meters wide and 45 meters tall. The style of the Cathedral was laid out by Archbishop Antionio da Saluzzo and he took more of a late gothic style which was more popular with French Cathedrals than Italian Cathedrals at the time.

When construction on the Cathedral began it was a reward to the noble and working classes of Milan who had just left the oppressing rule of Barnabo. The site actually took over three buildings they had to demolish to get it finished. The construction took many years to finish and had many leaders in the process. After almost 100 years the construction of the Cathedral stalled because of lack of funds. In the early 1500’s construction was again prevalent and most of today’s features where completed. Throughout time the building has been under construction having pieces added on and then redone. For the people of Milan they have a saying Fabrica del Dom which they use to describe tasks that take extremely long and complex to finish. All related to the Milan Cathedral.
